STACKER NOTE STACKER NOTE
NOVELL NETWORKS AND THE STACKER INTERCEPTOR
(Applies to Stacker 3.1 for Windows & DOS)
STAC FAX 31503 (09/20/93)
_________________________________________________________________
BACKGROUND
The Stacker interceptor redirects DOS compression-related
commands to their Stacker equivalents. Its default configuration
is not effective when the Novell NetX driver is running.
SOLUTION
Modify your STACKER.INI file to disable the Stacker
interceptor.
Modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to re-enable the Stacker
interceptor.
Modify your STACKER.INI file
1. Insert Stacker Disk 1 into drive A or B.
2. Change to the floppy disk drive by typing A: (or B:) and
pressing <Enter>.
3. From the DOS prompt, type STACKER and press <Enter>.
4. Note the drive letter of the uncompressed drive which is
exchanged with C (your boot drive). The drive letter is
displayed in the far right column.
5. From the DOS prompt, type
\TOOLS\STACINI drive:
where drive: is the letter of the uncompressed drive.
6. Add the switch
/I-
7. Press Ctrl+Z to save the file.
8. Restart your computer.
Complete the next procedure to make the Stacker interceptor
effective with NetX. Otherwise, if you prefer not to run the
Stacker interceptor, then use the Stacker commands when needed.
For example, use SDEFRAG rather than DEFRAG to optimize a Stacker
drive.
Modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT file
1. Use any text editor to edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, and add
the following line after your Novell Network drivers:
C:\STACKER\REDIRECT.COM
2. Save the file and exit to DOS.
