  9.        BACKGROUND
  10.        
  11.        The Stacker interceptor redirects DOS compression-related
  12.        commands to their Stacker equivalents.  Its default configuration
  13.        is not effective when the Novell NetX driver is running.
  14.        
  15.        SOLUTION
  16.        
  17.            Modify your STACKER.INI file to disable the Stacker
  18.            interceptor.
  19.            Modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to re-enable the Stacker
  20.            interceptor.
  21.             
  22.        Modify your STACKER.INI file
  23.        
  24.         1. Insert Stacker Disk 1 into drive A or B.
  25.         2. Change to the floppy disk drive by typing A: (or B:) and
  26.            pressing <Enter>.
  27.         3. From the DOS prompt, type STACKER and press <Enter>.
  28.         4. Note the drive letter of the uncompressed drive which is
  29.            exchanged with C (your boot drive).  The drive letter is
  30.            displayed in the far right column.
  31.         5. From the DOS prompt, type
  32.        
  33.                 \TOOLS\STACINI drive:
  34.        
  35.            where drive: is the letter of the uncompressed drive.
  36.         6. Add the switch
  37.

  40.         7. Press Ctrl+Z to save the file.
  41.         8. Restart your computer.
  42.             
  43.        Complete the next procedure to make the Stacker interceptor
  44.        effective with NetX.  Otherwise, if you prefer not to run the
  45.        Stacker interceptor, then use the Stacker commands when needed.
  46.        For example, use SDEFRAG rather than DEFRAG to optimize a Stacker
  47.        drive.

  49.        Modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT file
  50.        
  51.         1. Use any text editor to edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, and add
  52.            the following line after your Novell Network drivers:
  53.        
  54.                     C:\STACKER\REDIRECT.COM
  55.        
  56.         2. Save the file and exit to DOS.
